Starcount’s Personal Assistant and Office Manager, Rhianna Callaghan organises four extremely busy schedules and is a central pillar to the day-to-day runnings of the office. Here, Rhianna shares her thoughts on Starcount, working life, trying out new things and taking risks. Let’s hear more…
What brought you to Starcount?
I had just graduated from university and I wanted to experience what it was like to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. I decided a PA role would suit me best, as this would allow me to understand the structure of a small business and expose me to all the day-to-day operations. Starcount seemed to tick all the boxes of what I would like to experience and seemed like a good place to start my working life!
Tell us more about what your role is at Starcount.
As a PA, I am responsible for constructing, maintaining and updating the busy schedules of our management team. Working on a one-to-one basis with Edwina Dunn, Clive Humby, Rowena Humby & Joanna Wardle means I am exposed to all aspects of the business and I can learn from their different strengths and areas of expertise. No two days as a PA are the same with tasks varying depending on the needs of the business – whether that be booking client meetings, organising travel arrangements or scouting for locations to hold our industry events.
What is your favourite part of the job?
My favourite part of the job is definitely getting to work with people on a more personal level. Being the office manager as well as a PA means much of my job involves building relationships with people from different parts of the company rather than one specific team.
What did you want to grow up to be when you were younger?
Definitely a dancer – I used to compete all over the world with dance, so always thought that I would end up doing something dance-related, either touring with a show or teaching dance classes.
What advice would you give to those looking to follow in your footsteps?
Always be willing to try something new – you never know where it’ll take you.
