As Starcount’s Systems Administrator Hakan makes sure all IT systems are running smoothly 24/7. His childhood aspirations to become a doctor may not have come true but he is at least able to diagnose, repair and bring back to life Starcount’s beating heart – the IT systems.
What brought you to Starcount?
Having spent many years working with a very different style of product, Starcount posed me an exciting challenge – the technologies and methods used here I had not seen before throughout my career! We’re big on cloud technology – the scaling, deployment, and configuration ability of our cloud infrastructure is cutting edge, cloud is the future!
I was also offered the freedom to add my own touch to the way things are done and improve on an already state-of-the-art configuration. I knew this was something I wanted to be involved with.
Tell us more about what your role is at Starcount.
As a Systems Administrator, I’m tasked with ensuring all our IT operations are running smoothly at all times. In the IT team, we continuously improve our system’s efficiency and security making sure our staff receive all the support they need to do a great job.
If you could swap places with anyone for the day who would it be and why?
Elon Musk. Who else gets to send a sports car into space just because he felt like it?
What did you want to grow up to be when you were younger
A doctor! Even from an early age I always found it quite rewarding to be able to help others.
I guess I am still helping people.. in a way…
What do you love most about Starcount?
The culture and mindset. Along with their strong work ethic, the people here are extremely supportive of learning and I believe that is a winning combination for any company.
What advice would you give to those looking to follow in your footsteps?
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” – yep, I actually quoted a quote!
Don’t be afraid to go outside of your comfort zone, that’s where you grow the most. It’s not always easy, but it is always worth it.
