Turkish Airlines is the national flag carrier airline of Turkey, headquartered in the Turkish Airlines General Management Building on the grounds of Atatürk Airport in Yeşilköy, Bakırköy, Istanbul. It operates scheduled services to 159 international and 41 domestic cities (38 domestic airports), serving a total of 200 airports, in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. In 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 THY carried 17 million, 19.7 million, 22.5 million, 25.1 million and 29 million passengers with total revenues of US$2.23, $3.0, $4.5, $4 and $5.6 billion, respectively. The airline has 18,188 employees (30 June 2011). THY has been a member of the Star Alliance network since 1 April 2008. The airline also has Kobe Bryant as its brand promotion ambassador and Caroline Wozniacki, the No. 1 female player in the 2010 and 2011 tennis season, has become the new face promoting Turkish Airlines Business Class and Comfort Class through 2013. Other airline companies that are owned or co-owned by Turkish Airlines include AnadoluJet, North Cyprus Airlines and SunExpress. Turkish Airlines is in talks with LOT of Poland to establish a new company to replace LOT Polish Airlines, which is in debt. During Skytrax's 2012 World Airline Awards ceremony, Turkish Airlines won again Europe's Best Airline and Southern Europe's Best Airline awards after 2011 awards, as well as the award for the World's Best Premium Economy Class Airline Seat. It is also airline has 2th Best Premium Economy Class cabin and 7th in the world's Best Airline ranking.
